How Do Crystals Work?

Let’s start with the science….. Minerals are inorganic substances, anything that does not come from a plant or animal, that occur naturally within the earth.

Minerals are made from elements. Yes that’s right elements that feature on the Periodic Table of Elements we were all shown in high school. The 2021 version of the table lists 118 elements that have been discovered to date.

Let’s break it down a bit further - An element is made up of only one type of atom and can not be reduced any further. For example oxygen is made up of the oxygen atom only.

Atoms then become the building blocks for all matter - when 2 or more atoms are joined together they become a molecule. When molecules group together they form minerals.

For example: Quartz crystal is made up of the elements silicon and oxygen. When 2 oxygen and 1 silicon element join together they create the molecule SiO2 (Silicon x 1, Oxygen x 2) - when lots of these molecules are created over time and joined together - quartz is formed as per the image below.

My reason for starting with the science is because it helped me to understand the whole basis and reason for a crystal containing energy. The way oxygen gives us the air we need to survive, it combines with silicon to provide quartz its basis for existence.

While we can not see this energy, it is there. And while you may not be able to feel it as strongly as you may feel a magnets energy for example, when used with your own energy crystals can assist our bodies energy flow - through amplification and movement.

My personal experience is relatively limited to the decades/centuries of studies that have been dedicated to crystals. Nicolas Tesla was writing research papers on crystals and the energy that they contain in the early 1900’s.

Egyptian documents dating back to 1500BC reference using crystals for healing, even the bible has over 200 references to crystals. This is not a new phenomenon - although I do believe the modern day crystal use is a rediscovery and normalisation - combining science with the metaphysical.

Some crystals are formed over centuries through routine changes in the environments they inhabit and are quite common, some are formed through random moments in time - Moldavite as an example, is said to be made up of extraterrestrial chemistry and believed to have formed when a giant meteorite struck the earth and the heat of the impact metamorphosed surrounding rocks.

Some crystals are water soluble, some have greater hardness, some are used in common everyday products, some are very limited and rare. The depth of research that could take place surrounding all crystals is enormous.

Over time through experience generations of humans have given meaning and linked crystals with specific emotional and physical traits. While to date there is no scientific theory to match these beliefs it is my experience that many of the authentic writings about crystals ring true.

Although I do advise following your own intuition when using and choosing crystals because it is a very personal experience.

For me it is an intuition, where I have a natural ability to match the energy of a crystal and the clients needs. Quite often once I have sensed a crystal needed for the client, we will research through any of my trusted sources and find that the same meaning used over centuries will link to what the clients needs are at that given moment in time. It really is fascinating to experience.

If you are on the fence about experiencing crystals I ask you - what have you got to lose? Do your research and follow the steps to cleanse, attune and program your crystal and then see where it takes you.

I love sharing my knowledge with others. If you would like to know more about crystals, are seeking a special piece or simply want to chat, please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
