Rose Quartz - The Heart Healer

Rose Quartz is a light pink gemstone known for its association with love, compassion, and healing. As one of the most popular and sought-after varieties of quartz, it has captured the hearts of people for centuries, transcending cultural boundaries and finding its way into various aspects of human life.

Judy Hall, crystal guru and author of The

Encyclopedia of Crystals labels Rose Quartz “The finest emotional healer.”

“A stone of unconditional love and infinite peace, Rose Quartz is the most important crystal for healing the heart and the heart chakra.”

For me, the internal feeling of Rose Quartz is that of a beautiful comforting warm hug that you need and love. It is for your heart when it is empty, alone and needs some comfort.

When I started investigating crystals and working with energy healing I was looking for new and exciting gemstones, the ones that shine and glow and appeal to the eyes. But without fail I always come back to the comfort of Rose Quartz when my heart needs a lift.

During healing sessions I often place my 5kg raw piece of Rose Quartz under the table to comfort the client during the healing. You may even catching me touching or cuddling the same 5kg piece just for fun!

The beautiful pink colour of Rose Quartz is caused by traces of titanium, iron, or manganese within the crystal structure. In ancient civilizations, such as those in Egypt, Greece, and Rome, Rose Quartz was often linked to the goddesses of love, like Aphrodite and Venus. It was believed that wearing or using Rose Quartz could attract love, strengthen existing relationships, and promote harmony, a message reiterated by Judy Hall in her Encyclopedia of Crystals.

Geologically, Rose Quartz is abundant in various parts of the world, including Brazil, South Africa, Madagascar, Japan, India, Germany and the United States. The gemstone is typically found in large crystal formations or as small pebbles along riverbeds. The demand for Rose Quartz continues to grow as people discover and appreciate its beauty and positive energies.

However, as with any popular gemstone, the market for Rose Quartz has faced challenges, including unethical mining practices and counterfeit products. Ethical sourcing and fair trade initiatives have emerged to address these concerns, promoting responsible mining and ensuring the welfare of the communities involved in the industry.

As I have mentioned in previous articles, it is always important to know where you have sourced your crystals from and ensure they have been cleaned so that you do not take on any negative energy they may have attracted along the way.

In a time when anxiety is high and uncertainty is everywhere, keep Rose Quartz nearby to calm and stabilise your body and soul.

Nearly every crystal collection I know has a Rose Quartz in it - have you overlooked it like me? Or is it something that you use regularly to help calm your body and soul? I’d love to hear your experiences with it.
